Terms of service
These are the ground rules for using Zoey. We have tried to keep them readable. By signing in or using Zoey you agree to them.
Effective date: [Effective date]
Who we are
Zoey is run by Zoey.online (“we”, “us”). Questions about these terms: support@zoey.online. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
What the service is
Zoey is a web app that helps a household keep track of records, renewals, contacts, home details and an emergency binder, and to compare homes it is considering. You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding agreement to create an account. You sign in with a Google account.
Invite-only beta
Zoey is currently an invite-only beta. You can join only if a household admin has invited your Google account. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may reset or end the beta. We will try to give notice and a way to take your information with you, but we cannot promise it.
Accounts and households
- You are responsible for your Google account, your passkeys and your recovery code.
- A household has admins and members. Admins can invite and remove people, connect optional services and delete the household. If you join a household, other members will see what you add to it.
- Only add information about other people (children, parents, house-hunting partners) if you are entitled to, and use it only for the family purposes the service is built for.
The Platform Pass
- The Platform Pass is a one-time payment that unlocks the paid features for 12 months.
- It covers the whole household, not one person. It does not renew automatically.
- The price is the one shown at checkout. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.
- Refunds: [Refund policy]. If a payment is refunded in full, or a chargeback or dispute is opened, the pass it bought is removed from the household. If a dispute is decided in our favour, we restore the pass.
- Features that depend on third-party services or AI providers may have daily limits, and we may adjust what the pass includes as the beta develops.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- break the law, or use Zoey to store or share anything unlawful;
- try to get into other households’ data, or probe, attack or overload the service;
- use bots, scraping or automated means to use the service, or resell access to it;
- upload malware, or content that infringes someone else’s rights;
- use the lookup and listing features to harass anyone or to collect information about people.
We may suspend or remove accounts that do.
Your content
You own your information. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store, process and display it, to send it to the providers described in the privacy policy when you use those features, and to make backups. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell it. You are responsible for having the right to put it into Zoey.
Encrypted secrets: please read this
Sensitive values you put in secret fields are end-to-end encrypted with keys we do not hold. That protects you, and it also means we cannot recover them. If every passkey and the recovery code are lost, those values are permanently unreadable, and we cannot reset them for you. Keep your recovery code somewhere safe.
Not legal, financial, medical or tax advice
Zoey is an organizing tool. The “If something happens” section (checklist, wishes, emergency packet) helps you gather information; it is not a will, a trust, a power of attorney or any other legal document, and it does not make your wishes legally binding. The House Hunter finance tools (payments, monthly cost, mortgage rates, scores) give rough estimates only and are not financial advice or a loan offer. Vehicle recall results and reminders can be incomplete or late; do not rely on them as your only safeguard. Talk to a qualified professional about decisions that matter.
Third-party services
Zoey works with other services, including Google (sign-in, Drive, Calendar), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting and email), RentCast (property data), AI providers (document capture and the setup assistant), the US NHTSA (vehicle data) and the St. Louis Fed (mortgage rates). Their availability and accuracy are outside our control, and your use of Google features is also subject to Google’s own terms. If you connect Google Drive, the files live in that account and are subject to its owner’s control.
Availability and no warranty
We work to keep Zoey running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure against every threat. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of Zoey. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, to [Liability cap amount]). Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
Ending your use
You can stop using Zoey at any time. An admin can delete a household in the app, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing support@zoey.online; see the privacy policy for what that removes. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we end the service; if we end the service for reasons other than your breach, we will consider refunding the unused part of a current Platform Pass.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Governing law / venue], and disputes will be handled in the courts there, unless local law gives you the right to go elsewhere.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell signed-in members before it takes effect. If you keep using Zoey after the effective date, you accept the updated terms; if you do not, you can stop using it and ask us to delete your account.
